Great sounding record...had it since the late 90s as used to collect Pumpkins stuff and only this last year got a record player. Kills me that there's a skip on Crestfallen...can't even see any imperfections that would cause it on the vinyl. Great album though.

When listening to this mono "mix", I hear nothing more than a stereo mix with the 'mono' button pressed on the receiver... turns out that's what it is, which is disappointing... that is to say, a proper mono 'mix' of this album would be very interesting to hear, as mixing in mono (on a 2-speaker system) brings about a whole different dimension to the music that is more akin to what you hear live from a band, vs. what you hear when they have millions of dollars of studio time at their disposal to tweak a stereo mix that is only appreciated when you're head is placed in a perfect position between the speakers... a mono mix is enjoyed everywhere in the room... here is the article that talks about the mono 'mix' (really a collapsed stereo mix) https://www.digitaltrends.com/music/billy-corgan-smashing-pumpkins-adore-reissue/

I happened to have the chance to buy a sealed copy a couple years back, and it also jumps at the beginning of Once Upon a Time. It skips on the beat (lucky me), but it's quite annoying. Anyway, all this is to say that my deadstock copy also had the same issue many of you are describing. Must have been a manufacturing thing.

For reference, turntable is an SL-1200 with m44-7 cart. The thing can play a tortilla without skipping.

Pressing is decent but not amazing. I have a skip/looping that happens in the last verse of "The Tale of Dusty and Pistol Pete" in my pressing. I like it most in the fact that I can say I have a first pressing but I'll probably stick to listening to the second disc mono cd in the Adore Super Reissue that was released.

I only want to point out, that my release shows all characteristics but is a little bit different.
It has a red label on side D and the runnout grouve engraving clearly shows a + sign after Masterdisk.
And yes, i've a gatefold release. Bought it about 10 years ago new+sealed !

Has anybody had issues with skipping or even looping at parts? For some reason all my caroline pressings do this]

The mono mix is probably slightly mushier and darker than the CD mix, with the vocals slightly more recessed. Not a spectacular pressing (good, but not more than than), but the "mono" IMHO works well for the most intimate tracks... and less for the boombastic ones (=Ava Adore sounds better on the CD).

This is one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins releases. It is also one of the most underrated. This is, in my opinion, when you can really hear Billy Corgan honing in on the songwriting style that he applied to Zwan later in his career. It certainly isn't the best material made by this band, but it is still excellent.

This is a beautiful LP that defies genres and labels.
Every song is heart felt and the over sonic offering sings of bold philosophical truth.
The fact that this vinyl is mastered in Mono is interesting and adds to the overall mystique.
Deep music with shades of sky and grey mixed to musical perfection.
